What is feminine leadership?

Feminine leadership is explained as an approach to leadership that emphasizes values and skills often associated with the feminine but are valuable and effective for everyone, regardless of gender. These values include empathy, inclusivity, collaboration, and a more holistic approach to decision-making. These qualities can be as important as more traditional, often masculine-associated traits such as determination, confidence, and competitiveness.

 

In leading others, feminine leadership involves promoting a culture of inclusion and respect, where each team member feels valued and heard. It fosters collaboration and encourages collective success while setting clear goals and expectations.

 

At the corporate level, a balanced approach of feminine and masculine leadership may involve focusing on both short-term results and long-term goals, including the company's social responsibility and its role in society. It means making decisions based on a holistic perspective that considers all stakeholders—employees, customers, the community, and the environment—and not just shareholders.

 

An important point is that these "feminine" and "masculine" traits are not exclusive to any gender. All leaders, regardless of gender, can and should strive to balance these approaches into their leadership style to be most effective.

Why Poise?

The English word "Poise" has several meanings. Still, it is most often used to describe a self-assured, composed, and balanced person, both in posture and behaviour. It can also refer to a dignified and controlled way of handling situations, especially in challenging and stressful circumstances.

When used as a noun, it can refer to a person's state of balance or stability, whether physical or emotional. In Norwegian, Poise can be translated to balance, confidence, dignity, or composure. Therefore, Poise fits very well with our vision, namely to bring feminine leadership into the business world, entrepreneurial world, and individual lives.

Poise aims to promote feminine leadership, which balances the hard, structured, logical masculine with the soft, creative, vulnerable, intuitive feminine. It's about self-leadership but also leading others.

Feminine leadership is inner sustainability. It is essential to create tomorrow's workplaces ensure innovation, and sustainable development.
